Setting up with Highlight
This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:
- Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
- Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"

Configure the plugin with the settings below
Plugin Name
Freepik McpCommand (node, npx, python, etc.)Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.
- Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches
From the repository
Clone the repository, run make install to set up dependencies, and create a .env file with your FREEPIK_API_KEY. Then configure the server in your AI assistant’s config.json using the uv command with the main.py script. On Windows, use WSL.

🚀 Installation
1. Clone and navigate
git clone <REPOSITORY_URL>
cd freepik-toolkit/fastmcp
2. Install using Makefile
# Install dependencies
make install
Verify installation
make version
3. Configure your API Key
echo "FREEPIK_API_KEY=your_api_key_here" > .env
