- Slow query inspection with redis_slowlog
- List and inspect BullMQ queues with job counts per state
- Examine failed jobs with payloads and stack traces

Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

  1. Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
  2. Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
  3. Configure the plugin with the settings below
    Plugin Name Sentinal Mcp
    Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.

  4. Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

From the repository

Add the server to your MCP client configuration using npx @md-musaraf/sentinal-mcp and set the REDIS_URL environment variable (default redis://localhost:6379). Then ask your AI assistant questions like “Check my Redis health” or “Show me failed jobs in the email‑queue.” Each tool also accepts a redis_url parameter to override the default per call.

redis_ping

Test connectivity to a Redis instance

redis_health

Comprehensive Redis health report — server info, memory, clients, slow queries, and BullMQ queue depths

redis_memory

Analyze Redis memory usage — used, peak, fragmentation, big keys, and memory doctor recommendations

redis_slowlog

Show Redis slow queries — find commands that took too long to execute

bullmq_list

List all BullMQ queues with job counts per state (waiting, active, delayed, failed, completed)

bullmq_failed_jobs

Inspect failed jobs in a BullMQ queue — shows job ID, name, error reason, attempts, and stack trace

bullmq_job_details

Get full details of a specific BullMQ job — payload, status, timestamps, error info

bullmq_stale_jobs

Find stale active jobs in a BullMQ queue — jobs stuck in active state longer than expected

@md-musaraf/sentinal-mcp

MCP server for infrastructure monitoring. Works with Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cline, Warp, Gemini CLI, and any MCP-compatible AI assistant. Monitor Redis health, BullMQ queues, memory, and slow queries — all through natural conversation with your AI assistant.

Install

Add to your MCP client config: ``json { "mcpServers": { "sentinal": { "command": "npx", "args": ["@md-musaraf/sentinal-mcp"], "env": { "REDIS_URL": "redis://localhost:6379" } } } } `

Claude Desktop

Add the above to
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Claude Code

`bash claude mcp add sentinal npx @md-musaraf/sentinal-mcp `

Cursor

Add the above to
.cursor/mcp.json in your project root.

GitHub Copilot

Add the above to
.github/copilot/mcp.json in your repository.

Tools

Redis Server

| Tool | Description | |---|---| |
redis_ping | Test connectivity to a Redis instance | | redis_health | Full health report — server, memory, clients, slow queries, BullMQ queues | | redis_memory | Deep memory analysis with fragmentation diagnostics | | redis_slowlog | Inspect slow queries |

BullMQ Queues

| Tool | Description | |---|---| |
bullmq_list | List all BullMQ queues with job counts per state | | bullmq_failed_jobs | Inspect failed jobs with payloads and stack traces | | bullmq_job_details | Full details of a specific job | | bullmq_stale_jobs | Find jobs stuck in active state |

Example Usage

Just ask your AI assistant: - "Check my Redis health" - "Are any BullMQ queues backing up?" - "Show me failed jobs in the email-queue" - "Why is Redis slow?" - "How much memory is Redis using?" - "Find stale jobs in the payment-queue"

Configuration
