Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

  1. Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
  2. Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
  3. Configure the plugin with the settings below
    Plugin Name Selenium MCP Server
    Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

    Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.

  4. Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

From the repository

Install globally or use npx, then configure in an MCP client (e.g., Cursor). Run with selenium-mcp-server --browser chrome or via npx selenium-mcp-server@latest. Add a JSON configuration to .cursor/mcp.json or equivalent, specifying the command and arguments.

1. Publish to npm (for team-wide access)

- Ensure your package.json is correct (see below)
- Run:

npm publish --access public

- Or for private registry:

Troubleshooting

Browser Not Found

If you get browser not found errors:

1. Install the browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
2. Use --executable-path to specify browser location
3. Check that Java is installed and accessible

Permission Issues

On macOS, you might need to grant accessibility permissions:

1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy
2. Select "Accessibility"
3. Add your terminal application

Memory Issues
