Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
Configure the plugin with the settings below

Plugin Name Open Primitive Mcp

Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.
Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

Run npx open-primitive-mcp to start the server, then query OPP providers using MCP-compatible clients. For example, fetch drug data with parameters like ?name=aspirin and receive a signed envelope containing citations and provenance.

Open Primitive Protocol (OPP)

The data layer of the agent internet.

OPP defines how data providers make their data agent-consumable, verifiable, and discoverable. Three components: provider manifest, response envelope, query interface.

The Problem

Agents get data naked. No provenance. No freshness guarantee. No confidence score. No way to verify the source. The agent internet is missing its data envelope.

The Protocol

Conformance Levels

- Level 1 (Basic): Manifest + envelope with domain/source/freshness
- Level 2 (Cited): Level 1 + confidence scores + citations
- Level 3 (Verified): Level 2 + Ed25519 cryptographic proof

Quick Start

Use data from an OPP provider:
