MCP (Model Context Protocol)is an open standard created by Anthropic in 2024 that lets your AI talk to external services — like your mailbox — in a secure and structured way.
- In Claude (Anthropic), MCP servers appear asConnectors— you add MailMCP once, and Claude can read, send, and organize your emails directly.
- In ChatGPT (OpenAI), they appear asConnectors / Apps(via the ChatGPT Apps SDK, or as Custom GPT Actions for older setups).
- In Cursor, Windsurf, n8n, LibreChat… same thing — they all speak the MCP standard.
How it works:your AI sends a request (e.g. "send an email to Marc"), MailMCP executes it on your real mailbox via IMAP/SMTP, and returns the result. No copy-paste, no plugin, no vendor lock-in.
