- Queries real-time exchange rates between two currencies
- Uses standard three-letter currency codes (ISO 4217)
- Requires only a Juhe API key for authentication

Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
Configure the plugin with the settings below
Plugin Name JExchange

Command (node, npx, python, etc.) uvx
Arguments
- Argument 1 jexchange-mcp-server
Environment
- JUHE_EXCHANGE_API_KEY your_api_key
Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.
Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

Install

This server requires Python 3.10 or higher. Install dependencies using uv (recommended) or pip

Using uv (recommended)

When using uv no specific installation is needed. We will use uvx to directly run jexchange-mcp-server.

uvx jexchange-mcp-server

Using PIP

Alternatively you can install jexchange-mcp-server via pip:

pip install jexchange-mcp-server

After installation, you can run it as a script using:

python -m jexchange_mcp_server

Debugging

You can use the MCP inspector to debug the server. For uvx installations:

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector uvx jexchange-mcp-server

Or if you've installed the package in a specific directory or are developing on it:
