Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

  1. Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
  2. Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
  3. Configure the plugin with the settings below
    Plugin Name Bitbucket Server MCP
    Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

    Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.

  4. Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

From the repository

Install via npx (npx -y bitbucket-server-mcp) or clone and build locally, then configure environment variables (BITBUCKET_URL, BITBUCKET_TOKEN, optional BITBUCKET_DEFAULT_PROJECT, BITBUCKET_DEFAULT_REVIEWERS). Add the server to your MCP client configuration (e.g., cline_mcp_settings.json) with the appropriate command and arguments.

Installation

Using npx (Recommended)

Run directly without cloning:

npx -y bitbucket-server-mcp

Local Installation

Clone and build the project:

cd bitbucket-server-mcp
npm install
npm run build

Quick Start

1. Copy .env.example to .env and configure your Bitbucket Server credentials.
2. Start the MCP server:

   npm start
